Clear Skies Above Barre, Inc. is a grassroots group of citizens who are concerned about the proposed Heritage Wind Project, working to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Barre, N.Y. and surrounding communities that would be impacted by the proposed industrial wind turbines.
Clear Skies Above Barre, Inc. is a not for profit organization that was formed by residents of this community and not by any other organization. We have not been contacted or funded by any other organization. We received Intervenor Funding that was used solely for the Article 10 process during May 2018 and have recently been awarded additional Intervenor Funding in 2020.
We rely entirely on donations made by concerned individuals and need continued support. Please consider making a one-time or recurring monthly donation.
We appreciate and thank you for your support!
Industrial Wind Turbines negatively affect the environment, human health, property values, wildlife, and will devalue the small-town agricultural community that makes Barre special. We've compiled some Talking Points to help you get started.
Our Facebook page is a great source of information and articles. We hope you will Like us on Facebook and join the conversation.
CSAB was awarded $30,000 of Intervenor funds last year to investigate and fight Apex in it's attempt to place Industrial Wind Turbines in the Town of Barre. Over the last year, our legal expenses have exceeded that amount, but there are still several more phases that Apex must go through before we know if the project will be approved or not. We need donations in order to continue the fight and humbly ask for your help. Email us to mail a check made out to Clear Skies Above Barre, Inc. We are grateful and appreciative of your support!
Clear Skies Above Barre meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We hope you will join us to stay up to date and informed! Visit our Calendar for all upcoming events.
Make your voice heard! Write a letter, or a few, to our elected local, state, and federal officials. Contacts, tips, and talking points here.
The siting board has a webpage for the public to make comments and we encourage you to submit yours by MAY 21, 2021. Submit comments electronically here. Comments can be factual, concerns, personal stories, or opinions. All comments are valuable! Let the siting board know that the majority of Barre is not in favor of Industrial Wind Turbines in our town. Contacts, tips, and talking points here.
The Town of Barre Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at Barre Town Hall. We need you to attend, ask questions, voice your opposition, and hold the Board accountable! Visit our Calendar for all upcoming events. Note that Supervisor Sean Pogue has implemented a limit on the number of residents who can speak to only ten people. In order to speak, you must contact Town Hall on the Tuesday before the meeting and ask to be put on the list.
Contact us to request a yard sign! Place it in your yard, on your barn, or in your window to let Apex know that Industrial Wind Turbines are not wanted in our community. Signs are available through Citizens for a Better Barre.
A Visual Impact Assessment is underway and you are asked to submit comments or feedback to Matthew Robinson at mrobinson@edrdpc.com. Include all view sheds that will be impacted by the presence of Industrial Wind Turbines. An example would be a hotel or campground that would have views of turbines, because the view would negatively impact the tourism, income, and local economy. Read the letter that was mailed on 11/27/19 to some residents. The letter fails to state when comments should be submitted by, so submit ASAP and until further notice that the comment period is closed.

At the May Town Board meeting, Heritage Wind said that they will be submitting changes to the project to remove turbines 1-6, but adding four others in other locations. This is not over! CSAB will continue to educate and fight against this disastrous project. Please consider financially supporting CSAB.
