ORES decision requires changes to Heritage Wind

ORES decision requires changes to Heritage Wind

ORES decision requires changes to Heritage Wind

ORES overruled the judges -- 6 of the turbines may not be sited within 2 miles of the Wildlife Management Area. There is a lot unknown and yet to come. We will keep you all updated. All the hard work dedicated to our community and environment has made a difference. Thank you to everyone!

Please remember this is not over. We urge all residents to reach out to us if approached to sign anything. We are expecting it and want you to be aware.

Changes to Heritage Wind!

ORES decision requires changes to Heritage Wind

ORES decision requires changes to Heritage Wind

Heritage Wind announced plans to change course at the May 2022 Town Board meeting. In June, they are seeking State approval of substantial changes to the project. Major factors include:

  • Turbine Specs - V162 6.0 MW, which has a hub height of 119 meters. Height to tip is over 820 feet tall.
  • New turbine locations -

  1. One south of Root road near what was formerly T7
  2. One south of Delano Steele within the existing row of turbines
  3. One additional turbine in the Northeast cluster off of 31
  4. One back behind Culver Rd and Oak Orchard Rd

Please remember this is not over.

Map of proposed industrial wind turbines

Lease Agreement Information - Updated January 28, 2022

  • NEW! ORES requires changes to the plan. The six turbines in the lower left (SW in the plan) of the above map sit too close to important ecological areas and need to be relocated or removed from the plan.
  • Apex has indicated that they plan to add 4 different turbines to the plan to make up for this loss.
  • Click on a turbine or parcel in the above map to find out leaseholder information. Click on the square in the top right corner of the map to open a larger map in a new window.
  • Click here for the current array of 33 Industrial Wind Turbine land leaseholders. (As of August 31, 2020)

    What is Heritage Wind?

The Apex Heritage Wind Project proposes to build +/- 33 industrial wind turbines in our rural residential and agricultural community. These industrial turbines would be 650' - 680' in height to the tip of the blade, taller than any building in Western New York, and all be located within less than 22 square miles.

    Update!

At the May Town Board meeting, Heritage Wind said that they will be submitting changes to the project to remove turbines 1-6, but adding four others in other locations. This is not over! CSAB will continue to educate and fight against this disastrous project. Please consider financially supporting CSAB.
